Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the cooling fan and shroud. Refer to Cooling Fan and Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement  .

  4. Carefully loosen and remove the balancer bolt.

  6. Install J 41816-2  into the end of the crankshaft. See Special Tools and Equipment .
  7. IMPORTANT: Do not pull on outer edge of the crankshaft balancer.
  8. Use a 3 jaw puller to remove the crankshaft balancer.
  9. Remove the 3 jaw puller and the J 41816-2  . See Special Tools and Equipment .
  10. Remove the crankshaft balancer shim from the crankshaft snout.
  11. Clean and inspect the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Cleaning and Inspection  .
