Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. 3:  This step tests the wheel speed sensor for the proper resistance value.
DTC C0200-C0215, C1235-C1239, or C1271-C1278

1 Did you perform A Diagnostic System Check - ABS? - Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - ABS

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. IMPORTANT: Interruption or loss of communication with the scan tool may occur if speed exceeds 56 km/h (35 mph).
  4. Drive the vehicle at a speed greater than the specified value for 30 seconds.
Does the scan tool indicate that this wheel speed DTC set?
45 km/h (28 mph) Go to Step 3  Go to Diagnostic Aids
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor connector.
  3. Measure the resistance across the wheel speed sensor.
Does the resistance measure within the specified range?
920-1220 Ω Go to Step 4  Go to Step 10 
4 Measure the resistance between the wheel speed sensor terminals and ground.
Does the resistance measure greater than specified?
Greater than 1 M Ω Go to Step 5  Go to Step 10 
5 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the wheel speed sensor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
- Go to Step 13  Go to Step 6

  1. Disconnect the EBCM harness connector.
  2. Test the wheel speed sensor circuits for the following:
    • An open
    • A short to ground
    • A short to voltage
    • Shorted together
Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.Did you find and correct the condition?
- Go to Step 13  Go to Step 7 
7 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector for the EBCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
- Go to Step 13  Go to Step 8 
8 Inspect the wheel speed sensor for damage.
Is the wheel speed sensor damaged?
- Go to Step 10  Go to Step 9 
9 Inspect the wheel speed sensor rotor for damage.
Is the wheel speed sensor rotor damaged?
- Go to Step 11  Go to Step 12 
10 Replace the wheel speed sensor. Refer to Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement - Front  or Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement - Rear (FWD)  or Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement - Rear (AWD) .
Did you complete the replacement?
- Go to Step 13  -
11 Replace the wheel speed sensor rotor. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Front or Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Rear in Wheel Drive Shafts or Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Rear (FWD) or Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Rear (AWD) in Rear Suspension.
Did you complete the replacement?
- Go to Step 13  -
12 Replace the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV). Refer to Brake Modulator Assembly Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?
- Go to Step 13  -

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.
Does the DTC reset?
- Go to Step 2  System OK
