Is DTC B1180, B1181, B1182 or B1183 set as a current DTC? |

- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Remove the steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
- Inspect both the component and harness sides of the steering wheel module connector for damage or corrosion that may cause the malfunction. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections
in Wiring Systems.
Does the connector exhibit any signs of damage or corrosion? |

- If the component side of the steering wheel module connector is damaged, the steering wheel module must be replaced. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
- If the harness side of the steering wheel module connector is damaged, the steering wheel module coil must be replaced. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement .

Is DTC B1181, B1182 or B1183 set as a current DTC? |

- Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the steering wheel module - high and the steering wheel module - low circuits on the harness side of the steering wheel module black connector.
- Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
- Use the scan tool in order to Clear the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, request the SIR DTC display.
Does the scan tool indicate that DTC B1181, DTC B1182, or DTC B1183 is current? |

- Disconnect the lower steering wheel module coil connector.
- Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the steering wheel module - high and the steering wheel module - low circuits on the harness side of the steering wheel module coil connector.
- Use the scan tool in order to Clear the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, request the SIR DTC display.
Does the scan tool indicate that DTC B1181, DTC B1182, or DTC B1183 is current? |

- Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
- Use the scan tool in order to Clear the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, request the SIR DTC display.
Does the scan tool indicate that DTC B1180 is current? |

- Disconnect the lower steering wheel module coil connector.
- Use the scan tool in order to Clear the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, request the SIR DTC display.
Does the scan tool indicate that DTC B1180 is current? |

- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Disconnect the SDM connector.
- Inspect the SDM connector for damage or corrosion that may cause a malfunction between the Steering Wheel Module - High and/or the Steering Wheel Module - Low circuits. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections
and Connector Repairs

- If DTC B1180 is present, test for a short between the Steering Wheel Module - High and the Steering Wheel Module - Low circuits.
- If DTC B1181 is present, test the Steering Wheel Module - High and the Steering Wheel Module - Low circuits for an open or high resistance.
- If DTC B1182 is present, test the Steering Wheel Module - High and the Steering Wheel Module - Low circuits for a short to ground.
- If DTC B1183 is present, test the Steering Wheel Module - High and the Steering Wheel Module - Low circuits for a short to voltage.

- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Replace the steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .

- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Replace the steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement .

- Reconnect all SIR components.
- Verify that all components, connectors and CPAs are properly mounted.
- Use the scan tool in order to Clear the DTCs.
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.
Does the DTC reset? |
