Headlamps Inoperative - High Beams

Headlamps Inoperative - High Beams

Schematic Reference: Exterior Lights Schematics 
1 Did you review the Lighting System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections? Go to Step 2  Go to Symptoms - Lighting Systems 
2 Verify that the headlamps are inoperative on high beam.
Does the system operate normally?
Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3 
3 Test cavity 11 of the turn signal/headlamp switch for continuity to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is a ground present?
Go to Step 4  Go to Step 7 
4 With the dimmer switch in the high position, test cavity 9 of the turn signal/headlamp switch for continuity to ground.
Is a ground present?
Go to Step 5  Go to Step 8

  1. With the dimmer switch in the high position.
  2. Test cavity 14 of the daytime running lamp control module for continuity to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is a ground present?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 6 
6 Repair the open in the high beam signal circuit between cavity 9 of the turn signal/headlamp switch and cavity 14 of the daytime running lamp control module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 16  -
7 Repair the open in the ground circuit between cavity 11 of the turn signal/headlamp switch and G200. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 16  -
8 Replace the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 16  -
9 With the headlamps ON and the dimmer switch in the HIGH position, test cavity 11 of the daytime running lamps control module for continuity to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is a ground present?
Go to Step 10  Go to Step 13 
10 With the headlamps ON and the dimmer switch in the HIGH position, test cavity 10 of C201 for continuity to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is a ground present?
Go to Step 11  Go to Step 14 
11 Test cavity 2 of the DIM relay for continuity to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is a ground present?
Go to Step 15  Go to Step 12 
12 Repair the open in the DIM relay control circuit between cavity 10 of C201 and cavity 4 of the DIM relay. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 16  -
13 Replace the DRL control module. Refer to Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Control Module Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 16  -
14 Repair the open in the DIM relay control circuit between cavity 11 of the DRL module and cavity 10 of C201. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 16  -
15 Replace the DIM relay.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 16  -
16 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 3
