Dome Lamps Inoperative

1 Did you review the Lighting System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections? Go to Step 2  Go to Symptoms - Lighting Systems 
2 Verify the dome lamps are inoperative.
Does the system operate normally?
Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3 
3 Test C3 cavity 4 of the instrument panel fuse block for battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is voltage present?
Go to Step 7  Go to Step 4 
4 Test C4 cavity 7 of the instrument panel fuse block for battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is voltage present?
Go to Step 5  Go to Step 6 
5 Replace the instrument panel wiring harness. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Harness Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 20  -
6 Repair open or high resistance in the dome lamp supply voltage circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 20  -
7 Test cavity 2 of the front dome lamp for battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is voltage present?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 8 
8 Repair open or high resistance in the Dome Lamp supply voltage circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 20  -
9 With 1 of the doors open, test C2 cavity 7 of the left instrument panel junction block for continuity to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is a ground present?
Go to Step 11  Go to Step 10 
10 Replace the instrument panel wiring harness. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 20  -
11 With 1 of the doors open, test cavity 1 of the instrument panel lamp dimmer for continuity to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is a ground present?
Go to Step 13  Go to Step 12 
12 Repair the open in the ground circuit between cavity 1 of the instrument panel dimmer and C2 cavity 7 of the left instrument panel junction block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 20  -
13 Test cavity 8 of the instrument panel lamp dimmer for continuity to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is a ground present?
Go to Step 14  Go to Step 15 
14 Test C7 cavity 3 of the instrument panel fuse block for continuity to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is a ground present?
Go to Step 16  Go to Step 17 
15 Replace the instrument panel dimmer switch. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Dimmer Switch Replacement .
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 20  -
16 Test C3 cavity 6 of the instrument panel fuse block for continuity to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Is a ground present?
Go to Step 19  Go to Step 10 
17 Repair the open or high resistance between C7 cavity 3 of the instrument panel fuse block and cavity 8 of the instrument panel lamp dimmer. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 20  -
18 Repair open or high resistance between cavity 1 of the dome lamp and C3 cavity 6 of the instrument panel fuse block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 20  -
19 Repair open or high resistance between C3 cavity 6 of the instrument panel fuse block and cavity 1 of the dome lamp assembly. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 20  -
20 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 3
