Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If replacing the condenser, add refrigerant oil to the condenser. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities  for system capacity information.
  2. Install the upper rubber mounts on to the condenser.
  3. Install the lower ends of the condenser in to the lower rubber mounts.

    Important:  Ensure that the upper rubber mounts stay in place on the condenser.

  4. Tilt the top of the condenser in to place.
  5. Install the new O-ring seals onto the A/C compressor hose and the condenser tube. Refer to O-Ring Replacement  .

  6. Connect the condenser tube to the condenser.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  7. Tighten the condenser tube nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  8. Connect the A/C compressor hose to the condenser.
  9. Install the A/C compressor hose block fitting nut to the condenser.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  10. Install the radiator. Refer to RADIATOR REPLACEMENT .
  11. Install the front fender upper diagonal. Refer to BRACE REPLACEMENT - FRONT FENDER UPPER DIAGONAL .
  12. Install the air cleaner assembly.

  13. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery And Recharging  .
  14. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A  .
