Removal & Installation (8.1L)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Sierra, 2002 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2002 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Loosen bolt on intake manifold sight shield at top of engine. Remove intake manifold sight shield from top of engine. Disconnect Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor harness connector. See Figure.
  2. Remove MAP sensor retaining bolt and washer. Remove MAP sensor from intake manifold. To install, coat MAP sensor seal with Rubber Lubricant (9985770). DO NOT dip MAP sensor directly into Rubber Lubricant as vacuum port may become blocked. Replace MAP sensor seal as necessary.
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
