Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Refer to SIR CAUTION .
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the left side closeout insulator panel. Refer to CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT .
  4. Disconnect the steering column electrical connector from the vehicle.
  5. Remove the steering column shrouds. Refer to STEERING COLUMN TRIM COVERS - DISASSEMBLE - Off Vehicle .
  6. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER REPLACEMENT - On Vehicle (Cylinder Rotates)  or IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER REPLACEMENT - On Vehicle (Unable To Rotate Cylinder) .
  7. Remove the ignition switch. Refer to IGNITION AND KEY ALARM SWITCH ASSEMBLY - DISASSEMBLE - Off Vehicle .
