Brake Pedal Assembly: Installation

- Install the cruise control release switch and the stoplight switch to the brake pedal assembly. See Figure . Position the brake pedal brace to the brake pedal assembly and install the brace mounting nuts. Tighten the nuts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the brake pedal assembly with the brace to the vehicle. Install the brake pedal brace upper mounting bolt. Tighten the bolt to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the brake pedal assembly mounting nuts. Tighten the nuts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the brake booster mounting nuts. Tighten the nuts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . See Figure . Install the booster push rod to the brake pedal. Install washer and retain clip. Enable the SIR system. See appropriate AIR BAG article in RESTRAINTS.
- Connect the electrical connectors to the cruise control release and stoplight switches. Adjust the stoplight switch and the cruise control release switch. See STOPLIGHT SWITCH ADJUSTMENT under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
- Install the knee bolster.
- Align the clips with the slots in the instrument panel.
- Push in, in order to secure the knee bolster. Install the bolts/screws to the bottom of the knee bolster.
- Install the left side insulator panel.
- Snap the I/P courtesy lamp into the I/P insulator.
- Position the I/P insulator to the instrument panel.
- Install the push-in retainers to the I/P insulator to instrument panel.
- Install the press-on retainers to the I/P insulator to dash mat.
