Test I: Seat Belt Indicator Always On
- If audible warnings system operation check has been performed, go to next step. If audible warnings system operation check has not been performed, perform audible warnings system operation check. See AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK
under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Disconnect seat belt switch 2-pin harness connector. Seat belt switch is part of seat buckle. If seat belt indicator is still illuminated, go to next step. If seat belt indicator is not illuminated, go to step 4
.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster 16-pin harness connector C1. Disconnect chime audio alarm module 7-pin harness connector. Chime audio alarm module is located under left side of instrument panel, left of steering column. Disconnect Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) 12-pin harness connector. SDM is located under center console. Measure resistance in Gray/Red wire between instrument cluster harness connector terminal No. 12 and chime audio alarm module harness connector terminal No. 1, SDM harness connector terminal No. 5 and seat belt switch terminal No. 2. See Figure
-Fig 2
. If resistance is less than 2 ohms on any circuit, go to step 5
. If resistance is 2 ohms or more on all circuits, go to step 6
.
- Replace seat belt buckle. After repair, perform AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK
under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Repair open in Gray/Red wire between appropriate component. After repair, perform AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK
under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Replace chime audio alarm module. After repair, perform AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK
under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
