Audible Warnings System Operation Check

  1. If concern is related to headlight chime, go to next step. If concern is related to key-in-ignition chime, go to step  3 . If concern is related to seat belt chime, go to step  4 .
  2. Remove key from ignition. Turn headlight switch to ON position. Open driver's side door. Chime audio alarm should sound (one pulse per second). Turn headlight switch to OFF position. Chime audio alarm should not sound. If chime audio alarm does not operate as specified, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Insert key into ignition switch. Leave ignition switch in LOCK position. Open driver's side door. Chime audio alarm should sound (2 pulses per second). If chime audio alarm does not operate as specified, go to TEST L: KEY-IN-IGNITION CHIME INOPERATIVE  .
  4. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Close driver's side door. Seat belt chime audio alarm should sound for 6 seconds (2 pulses per second) and seat belt indicator should remain illuminated. If chime audio alarm does not operate as specified, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
