Test H: Oil Pressure Indicator Always On
- If instrument cluster system operation check has been performed, go to next step. If instrument cluster system operation check has not been performed, perform instrument cluster system operation check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect oil pressure switch harness connector. Turn ignition switch to START position. If oil pressure indicator illuminates, go to next step. If oil pressure indicator does not illuminate, go to step 6 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster 16-pin harness connector C1. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster 16-pin harness connector terminal No. 8 (Yellow/Black wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to step 5 .
- Repair short to ground in Yellow/Black wire between instrument cluster and oil pressure switch. After repair, perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Repair or replace instrument cluster printed circuit. After repair, perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Test engine oil pressure. Engine oil pressure should be 46.9 to 61.1 psi at 4000 RPM. If engine oil pressure is as specified, go to next step. If engine oil pressure is not as specified, diagnose engine oil pressure concern. See appropriate ENGINES article.
- Replace oil pressure switch. After repair, perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
