Instrument Cluster System Operation Check

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) gauge should indicate current engine coolant temperature. Fuel gauge should indicate approximate fuel level. Oil pressure indicator light should illuminate. If ECT gauge, fuel gauge and oil pressure indicator light do not operate as specified, diagnose by symptom.   2. Start engine. Oil pressure indicator should turn off. Tachometer (if equipped) should indicate engine RPM. If oil pressure indicator light and tachometer do not operate as specified, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Run engine until normal engine operating temperature is attained. ECT gauge should indicate current engine coolant temperature. If ECT gauge does not operate as specified, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
