Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT:
The digital receiver bracket and the child tether attachment use the same fastener. Check the alignment of the child tether attachment and digital receiver bracket to the rear shelf prior to installing the fastener.
- Install the receiver bracket (2) at a 45 degree angle to engage the locating tabs into the slots in the rear shelf (5).NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the child tether attachment bolt (3).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connector to the receiver (4).
- Connect the coaxial cable lead to the receiver (4).
- Install the rear shelf trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR WINDOW SHELF in Interior Trim.
- Perform the setup procedure for the digital radio receiver. Refer to DIGITAL RADIO RECEIVER SETUP
.IMPORTANT: After replacement of an XM Radio receiver, call XM Radio to deactivate the receiver that has been removed from the vehicle and activate the new XM Radio receiver.
The vehicle must be parked outside in an open area within 24 hours after an activation call.
- Turn the radio on, tune to the XM channel 0, and record the electronic serial number (ESN) from the radio.
The ESN will be needed for activation of the new receiver.
- Call XM Radio at 1-800-852-XMXM (9696) to deactivate the faulty receiver and activate the new receiver.
- Park the vehicle outside in an area with an unobstructed view of the southern sky.
- Leave the vehicle outside with the ignition switch in the ACC position and the radio turned ON for 30 minutes to activate XM service.
- Once activated the radio will receive the remaining XM Radio channels.
