Tools Required

J 21854-01  Pivot Pin Remover

1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
2. Remove the lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle (Without Key)  Or Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle (With Key)  .

3. Remove the multifunction switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal & Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle .
4. Remove the windshield wiper and washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper & Washer Switch Replacement - On Vehicle .
5. Remove the lock housing assembly. Refer to Lock Housing Assembly - Disassemble (Off Vehicle) .
6. Remove the ignition switch assembly. Refer to Ignition Switch Assembly - Disassemble (Off Vehicle) .
7. Remove the tilt spring. Refer to Tilt Spring - Disassemble (Off Vehicle) .
8. Remove the lower shaft components. Refer to Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing & Jacket - Disassemble (Off Vehicle - Tilt)  or Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing & Jacket - Disassemble (Off Vehicle - Standard)  .
9. Remove the 2 pivot pins using J 21854-01  .
10. Remove the bearing and housing assembly.
