Installation Procedure

  1. Install the tie rod end (3) to the inner tie rod shaft (1).
  2. Fig 1: Identifying Outer Tie Rod End

  3. Install the outer tie rod ball stud (4) to the steering knuckle (6).
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  4. Install the new prevailing torque nut (5) to the outer tie rod ball stud (4). Tighten the new prevailing torque nut to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).
  5. Install the front tire and wheel. Refer to TIRE & WHEEL REMOVAL & INSTALLATION .
  6. Adjust the front toe. Refer to FRONT TOE ADJUSTMENT .
  7. Tighten the jam nut (2). Tighten the jam nut to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).
