Removal & Installation (Sunfire)

Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable driver-side air bag module. See ZONE 3 under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Disable passenger-side air bag module. See ZONE 5 under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
Using flat-blade screwdriver, remove defroster grille. Remove upper trim panel by lifting upward to release retainers. See Fig 1. Remove outer trim covers. Remove accessory trim plate. Remove screws from upper pad trim. Remove upper pad trim. Remove instrument panel trim pad screws. Remove instrument panel trim pad.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten trim pad screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate passenger-side air bag module. See ZONE 5 under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Activate driver-side air bag module. See ZONE 3 under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
