Removal & Installation (Cavalier)

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable driver-side air bag module. See ZONE 3  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Disable passenger-side air bag module.See ZONE 5  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
  2. Remove defroster grille screw. Using flat-blade screwdriver, remove defroster grille. Remove left and right instrument panel outer trim covers. Open glove box. Remove glove box trim plate. Remove accessory trim plate. Remove screws from instrument panel trim pad. See Fig 1. Remove instrument panel trim pad.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten trim pad screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate passenger-side air bag module. See ZONE 5  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Activate driver-side air bag module. See ZONE 3  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
