Horns Always On

  1. If system check was performed, go to next step. If system check was not performed, go to HORN SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  2. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C1. Turn ignition on. If horns sound, go to next step. If horns do not sound, go to step  5 .
  3. Remove horn relay from underhood electrical center. Check for continuity between ground BCM connector C1 terminal B10 (Black wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, go to step  6 .
  4. Remove inflator module from steering wheel. Disconnect horn brush slip sing connector from inside steering wheel. Check continuity between ground and BCM harness connector C1 terminal B10 (Black wire). If continuity exists, go to step  10 . If continuity does not exist, go to step  9 .
  5. Turn ignition off. Reconnect BCM connector C1. Turn ignition on. If horns are pulsating on and off, simulating theft deterrent mode, go to HORN SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If horns are not pulsating on and off, go to step  11 .
  6. With horn relay still removed, turn ignition on. If horns sound continuously, go to next step. If horns are not sounding, go to step  8 .
  7. Repair short to battery voltage in Dark Green wire between underhood electrical center and horns. Go to HORN SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  8. Replace horn relay. Go to HORN SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  9. Replace horn switch assembly. Go to HORN SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  10. Repair short to ground in Black wire between BCM and horn relay. Go to HORN SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  11. Replace BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. Recheck system operation.
