Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement - Lower .
  3. Remove the left exhaust manifold. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT - LEFT (3.8 L) .
  4. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
  5. Remove the left cylinder head bolts (1).

  6. Remove the left cylinder head (2).

  7. Remove the left cylinder head gasket (1).
  8. Disassemble the left cylinder head. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL - LEFT .
