Unable To Select Gears

- Did you review the clutch symptom operations and perform the necessary inspections? If yes, go to next step. If not, see VISUAL/PHYSICAL INSPECTION .
- Review the system operations in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions. See DESCRIPTION & OPERATION . Perform a visual inspection of the clutch system. See VISUAL/PHYSICAL INSPECTION . Test the vehicle under the same conditions that the customer reported in order to verify the system is operating properly. Is the clutch system OK? If yes, then go to next step. If not, then go to step 4 .
- Diagnose the transmission. See appropriate DIAGNOSIS article in MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS. Does the clutch system operate properly? If yes, then system is functioning properly at this time. If not, then go to next step.
- Check the clutch master cylinder. Is the clutch master cylinder worn or faulty? If yes, then go to next step. If not, then go to step 6 .
- Replace the clutch master cylinder. See CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Does the clutch work now? If yes, then repair is complete. If not, then go to next step.
- Remove transmission and inspect the clutch actuator. See CLUTCH ACTUATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Is the clutch actuator worn or faulty? If yes, then go to next step.
- Replace the clutch actuator. Operate the system in order to verify the repair. Did you correct the condition? If yes, then repair is complete. If not, then go to step 2 .
