Clutch Does Not Disengage

- Did you review the clutch symptom operations and perform the necessary inspections? If yes, go to next step. If not, see VISUAL/PHYSICAL INSPECTION .
- Check for a pedal travel restriction. Is the vehicle equipped with an aftermarket floor covering? If yes, then go to next step. If not, then go to step 4 .
- Remove the aftermarket floor covering. Does the clutch work properly? If yes, then system is operating properly at this time. If not, then go to next step.
- Test the clutch system. Does the clutch work properly? If yes, then system is operating properly at this time. If not, then go to next step.
- Test for air in the clutch hydraulic system. Is there air in the clutch hydraulic system? If yes, then go to next step. If not, then go to step 7 .
- Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. See BLEEDING . Does the clutch work properly? If yes, then repair is complete. If not, then go to next step.
- Inspect the master cylinder for worn seals. Are the seals worn? If yes, then go to next step. If not, then go to step 9 .
- Replace the necessary components. See CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Does the clutch work properly? If yes, then repair is complete. If not, then go to next step.
- Remove the transmission. See CLUTCH ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for a worn or damaged clutch actuator. Is the clutch actuator worn or damaged? If yes, then go to next step. If not, then go to step 11 .
- Replace the clutch actuator or the release bearing. See CLUTCH ACTUATOR . Does the clutch work properly? If yes, then repair is complete. If not, then go to next step.
- Inspect the clutch assembly for damaged or worn clutch driven plate or binding of the clutch driven plate. Are the clutch components OK? If yes, then system is operating normally at this time. If not, then go to next step.
- Replace the clutch disc. See CLUTCH ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Did you find and correct the condition? If yes, then go to next step. If not, see VISUAL/PHYSICAL INSPECTION .
- Install the transmission. See CLUTCH ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Operate the system in order to verify the repair. Did you correct the condition? If yes, then repair is complete. If not, then go to step 2 .
