Test P: Fasten Seat Belt Indicator/Chime Inoperative: Testing

  1. If diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform SEAT BELTS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) 32-pin harness connector C3. BCM is located behind right side of instrument panel, near blower motor. See Figure. Disconnect driver's seat belt switch 2-pin harness connector. Inspect Black/White wire for an open or high resistance between BCM harness connector C3 terminal C13 and driver's seat belt switch harness connector terminal "A". If an open or high resistance is not found, go to next step. If an open or high resistance is found, repair as necessary then go to step  5.
  3. Inspect Black wire for an open or high resistance between ground and driver's seat belt switch harness connector terminal "B". If an open or high resistance is not found, go to next step. If an open or high resistance is found, repair as necessary then go to step  5.
  4. Replace BCM. Program BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under PROGRAMMING. After replacement, go to next step.
  5. Operate system to verify repair. If condition has been corrected, system is operating correctly at this time. If condition has not been corrected, repeat test procedure beginning at step  2.
