Seat Belts Diagnostic System Check
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe fasten seat belt indicator. If fasten seat belt indicator proves out, go to next step. If fasten seat belt indicator does not prove out, repair fasten seat belt indicator as necessary. Perform TEST P: FASTEN SEAT BELT INDICATOR/CHIME INOPERATIVE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument pane, to right of steering column. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, perform TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEMS TESTS.
- Attempt to establish communication with Body Control Module (BCM). If scan tool communicates with BCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, perform TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULE - CAMARO & FIREBIRD article.
- If any current/history DTCs are retrieved, go to next step. If no other DTCs are retrieved, system is operating properly at this time.
- If scan tool does not display any DTCs which begin with a "U", go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs which begin with a "U", perform TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULE - CAMARO & FIREBIRD article.
- If scan tool does not display DTC B1000, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If scan tool displays DTC B1000, perform DTC B1000: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER INTERNAL FAULT under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
