Test M: Driver Information Center Compass Display Inoperative: Testing

  1. Turn ignition on. Verify that compass display is inoperative. If compass operates normally, no problem is indicated at this time. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS  . If compass display is not operating normally, go to next step.
  2. Test functions of other modes. If other Driver Information Center (DIC) modes are operating normally, go to next step. If other DIC modes do not operate normally, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table.
  3. Place DIC compass in calibration mode. See COMPASS CALIBRATION/VARIANCE PROCEDURE  under PROGRAMMING. When calibration is complete, display will return to compass reading. Check operation of compass. If compass does not operate properly, go to next step. If compass operates properly, go to step  6 .
  4. Perform compass variance procedure. See COMPASS CALIBRATION/VARIANCE PROCEDURE  under PROGRAMMING. Check operation of compass. If compass does not operate properly, go to next step. If compass operates properly, go to step  6
  5. Replace DIC display module. See DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) DISPLAY MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
  6. Connect all disconnected components. Check system for proper operation. If system operates properly, test is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to step  1 .
