Test I: Driver Information Center Temperature Display Always Reads "SC": Testing

NOTE: Outside ambient air temperature sensor is also referred to as ambient air temperature sensor.

Turn ignition off. Disconnect ambient air temperature sensor 2-pin connector. Connect Signal Generator and Instrument Panel Tester (J-33431-C) between signal (Light Green/Black wire) and ground circuit (Black wire). Turn ignition on, with engine off. Vary resistance on tester from 2500-11200 ohms. Disconnect one of the testers leads momentarily between resistance settings in order to quickly update Driver Information Center (DIC) display. For resistance and display values, see AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE table. If display indicates correct temperature, go to step 3 . If display does not indicate correct temperature, go to next step.
Test signal circuit of ambient temperature sensor for a short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If problem does not exist, go to step 5 . If problem exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 6 .
Check for poor connections at ambient air temperature sensor connector. If a problem exists, repair connector as necessary. After repair, go to step 6 . If connector is okay, go to next step.
Replace ambient air temperature sensor. See AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 6 .
Replace DIC display module. See DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) DISPLAY MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
Connect all disconnected components. Check system for proper operation. If system operates properly, test is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to step 1 .

AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE
