Test D: Odometer Trip/Reset Switch

  1. If instrument cluster diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If instrument cluster diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform instrument cluster diagnostic system check. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition on. Press and release trip button on instrument cluster. If instrument cluster switches between trip and odometer, check for poor connections and intermittent conditions. For intermittent diagnosis, go to DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS  . If instrument cluster does not switch between trip and season, go to next step.
  3. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
  4. Connect all disconnected components. Check system for proper operation. If system operates properly, test is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to step  2 .
