DTC P0461: Fuel Level Sensor Performance: Testing
- If diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Remove fuel level sender. See FUEL PUMP under FUEL SYSTEM in appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Inspect for following items:
- A stuck fuel level sender (i.e. fuel strainer interfering with sender float arm).
- Foreign material in fuel tank.
If no problem was found, go to next step. If a problem exist, repair as necessary. Go to step 4 .
- Replace fuel level sender. After repair, go to next step.
- Use scan tool in order to clear DTCs. Operate vehicle within CODE ENABLE CRITERIA conditions. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTC resets as current, go to step 3 . If DTC does not reset as current, system is okay.
