Test P: Fasten Safety Belt Chime Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect multifunction alarm module 8-pin harness connector. Multifunction alarm module is located behind instrument panel, above blower motor. Ensure driver-side seat belt buckle is unfastened (released). Using test light, probe between battery voltage and multifunction alarm module harness connector terminal A2 (Black/White wire). If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, go to step  4 .
  2. Disconnect driver-side seat belt switch harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and driver-side seat belt switch harness connector terminal "A" (Black wire). If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to step  7 .
  3. Measure resistance in Black/White wire between multifunction alarm module harness connector terminal A2 and driver-side seat belt switch harness connector terminal B. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to step  8 .
  4. Measure resistance between terminals "A" and "B" at driver-side seat belt switch harness connector (component side). If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to step  6 .
  5. Replace multifunction alarm module. See MULTIFUNCTION ALARM MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step  9 .
  6. Replace driver-side seat belt switch. After repairs, go to step  9 .
  7. Repair open in Black wire between driver-side seat belt and ground. Ground point is located at base of left "B" pillar. After repairs, go to step  9 .
  8. Repair open in Black/White wire between driver-side seat belt and multifunction alarm module. After repairs, go to next step.
  9. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reconnect all connectors and reinstall components that were removed. Perform audible warnings system check. See AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
