Test G: Engine Oil Pressure Message Inoperative
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator illuminates, go to next step. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator does not illuminate, perform powertrain diagnostic system check. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- Disconnect engine oil pressure switch harness connector. Engine oil pressure switch is located on front of engine, above starter. Using a fused jumper wire (3-amp), connect ground to engine oil pressure switch harness connector terminal "A" (Tan wire). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If oil pressure warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If oil pressure warning indicator does not illuminate, go to step 4 .
- Inspect for poor connection at engine oil pressure switch harness connector and repair as necessary. If connection is okay, replace oil pressure switch. Recheck system operation.
- Disconnect instrument cluster 32-pin harness connector. Measure resistance in Tan wire between instrument cluster harness connector terminal D14 and engine oil pressure switch harness connector terminal "A". If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to step 6 .
- Repair open in Tan wire between instrument cluster and engine oil pressure switch. If concern still exists, go to next step.
- Remove and inspect warning indicator. If indicator and indicator connection are okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
