Test 5: Odometer Inoperative

  1. If instrument cluster diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If instrument cluster diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform instrument cluster diagnostic system check. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Verify system operation. If fault still exists, go to next step. If fault does not still exist, check for poor connections and intermittent conditions.
  3. Road test vehicle and observe speedometer. If speedometer indicates vehicle speed, go to next step. If speedometer does not indicate vehicle speed, go to TEST 7: SPEEDOMETER INACCURATE/INOPERATIVE  .
  4. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
  5. Connect all disconnected components. Check system for proper operation. If system operates properly, test is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to step  3 .
