High Beam Indicator Malfunctioning

  1. Turn high beam headlights on. If high beams illuminate, go to next step. If high beams do not illuminate, locate and repair problem in headlight system. See HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS & DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article.
  2. Operate turn signals. If turn signal indicators operate properly, go to next step. If turn signal indicators do not operate properly, go to TURN SIGNALS, HIGH BEAM & SEAT BELT INDICATOR INOPERATIVE (OTHER INDICATORS & GAUGES OKAY)  test.
  3. Check for poor connection or open in circuit No. 11 (Light Green wire) between instrument cluster Black 18-pin harness connector C2 and splice S219 (located in instrument panel harness under left side of instrument panel, about 4" from radio and rear window wiper/washer multifunction switch breakout). Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
  4. Check high beam indicator bulb and bulb connection. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If bulb and bulb connection are okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
