Brake Warning Indicator Inoperative
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON warning indicator does not illuminate, go to ALL GAUGES & INDICATORS (EXCEPT TURN SIGNALS, HIGH BEAM & SEAT BELT INDICATOR) INOPERATIVE test.
- Check for short to battery in circuit No. 33 (Tan/White wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check for poor connection or open in circuit No. 33 (Tan/White wire) between instrument cluster Natural 18-pin harness connector C1, terminal "B" and splice S207 (located in instrument panel harness under left side of instrument panel, about 2" from hazard light/turn signal flasher breakout). Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check BRAKE warning indicator bulb and bulb connection. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If bulb and bulb connection are okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
