Diagnostic Procedures
- Install scan tool. Does the scan tool power up? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT in appropriate lemon-25® product.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Attempt to establish communication with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Does the scan tool communicate with the PCM? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Select the powertrain control module display DTCs function on the scan tool. Does the scan tool display any DTCs? If yes, perform Powertrain On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check. Refer to appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article. If no, go to next step.
- Check the transfer case shift control module for DTCs. The transfer case shift control module is not a class 2 device. DTCs are displayed on the transfer case shift control switch. Refer to RETRIEVING CODES . Are any DTCs present? If yes, diagnose affected DTC(s). If no, diagnose for a mechanical transfer case problem.
