Service Engine Soon Indicator Does Not Illuminate When Ignition Is In Run (Engine Not Running)
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator illuminates, go to next step. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator does not illuminate, go to ALL GAUGES & INDICATORS (EXCEPT TURN SIGNALS, HIGH BEAM & SEAT BELT INDICATOR) INOPERATIVE.
- Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Clear 80-pin connector C2. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between PCM harness connector C2, terminal No. 5 (Brown/White wire) and ground. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator illuminates, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES

- Check for poor connection or open in circuit No. 419 (Brown/White wire) between PCM connector C2 and instrument cluster. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator bulb and bulb connection. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If bulb and bulb connection are okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
