Low Oil Level Indicator Does Not Illuminate When Ignition Is In Run

If vehicle has been checked for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), go to next step. If vehicle has not been checked for DTCs, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section:

- TESTS W/CODES - 3.8L
If fuel gauge works properly, go to next step. If fuel gauge does not work properly, go to ALL GAUGES & INDICATORS (EXCEPT TURN SIGNALS, HIGH BEAM & SEAT BELT INDICATOR) INOPERATIVE.
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Clear 80-pin connector C2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between PCM harness connector C2, terminal No. 6 (Brown/White wire) and ground. If low oil level indicator illuminates, go to next step. If low oil level indicator does not illuminate, go to step 5).
Replace PCM. See procedures in appropriate REMOVE/INSTALL/OVERHAUL article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section:

- REMOVE/INSTALL/OVERHAUL - 3.8L
Recheck system operation.
Check for poor connection or open in circuit No. 1173 (Brown/White wire) between PCM connector C2 and instrument cluster. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
Check low oil warning indicator bulb and bulb connection. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If bulb and bulb connection are okay, replace instrument cluster. See procedures in INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
