Change Oil Soon Warning Indicator Malfunctioning
- If vehicle has been checked for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), go to next step. If vehicle has not been checked for DTCs, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES

- If speedometer works properly, go to next step. If speedometer does not work properly, go to ALL GAUGES & INDICATORS (EXCEPT TURN SIGNALS, HIGH BEAM & SEAT BELT INDICATOR) INOPERATIVE.
- Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Clear 80-pin connector C2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If CHANGE OIL SOON indicator illuminates, go to next step. If CHANGE OIL SOON indicator does not illuminate, go to step 5).
- Check for short to ground in circuit No. 803 (Gray wire) between instrument cluster and PCM connector C2, terminal No. 36. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
- Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between PCM harness connector C2, terminal No. 36 (Gray wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If CHANGE OIL SOON indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If CHANGE OIL SOON indicator illuminates, locate and repair problem in PCM system. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES

- Check for poor connection or open in circuit No. 803 (Gray wire) between instrument cluster and PCM connector C2. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check CHECK OIL SOON warning indicator bulb and bulb connection. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If bulb and bulb connection are okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
