Brake Warning Indicator Does Not Illuminate When Ignition Switch Is In Bulb Test Or Start Position

  1. Set parking brake. Release parking brake. If BRAKE warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If BRAKE warning indicator does not illuminate, go to BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR INOPERATIVE  .
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a 5-amp fused jumper wire between Black 48-pin connector C201 (located in instrument panel harness, behind instrument panel to right of steering column) terminal B3 (Tan/White wire) and ground. If BRAKE warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If BRAKE warning indicator does not illuminate, go to step 4).
  3. Replace ignition switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Recheck system operation.
  4. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 33 (Tan/White wire) between connector C201 and splice S207 (located in instrument panel harness under left side of instrument panel). Recheck system operation.
