Brake Warning Indicator Does Not Illuminate When Brake Malfunctions

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Set parking brake. Release parking brake. If BRAKE warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If BRAKE warning indicator does not illuminate, see procedures in BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR INOPERATIVE  .
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) Light Gray 24-pin connector C1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between EBCM harness connector C1, terminal B5 (Tan/White wire) and ground. If BRAKE warning indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If BRAKE warning indicator illuminates, locate and repair problem in ABS system. See ANTI-LOCK/TCS article in BRAKES section.
  3. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 33 (Tan/White wire) between splice S207 (located in instrument panel harness under left side of instrument panel) and EBCM connector C1. Recheck system operation.
