Speedometer, Cruise Control & Radio Speed Compensated Volume Control Inoperative
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Brown connector. Connect IP Tester (J-33431-B) Red clip lead to engine harness Dark Green/White wire and Black clip lead to ground. Plug IP tester into electrical wall outlet and set tester to 54 MPH. Turn ignition on, with engine off. If speedometer on instrument panel cluster displays 54 MPH, check connection at ECM. If connection is okay, replace ECM. If speedometer does not display 54 MPH, go to next step.
- If speedometer does not display 54 MPH, disconnect cruise control module (leave IP tester connected). If speedometer displays 54 MPH, replace cruise control module. If speedometer does not display 54 MPH, go to next step.
- If speedometer does not display 54 MPH, disconnect speed compensated volume of radio control head (leave IP tester connected). If speedometer displays 54 MPH, remove radio control head for repair. If speedometer does not display 54 MPH, disconnect Central Control Module (CCM). Check Dark Green/White wire for open, short to battery voltage or short to ground. If Dark Green/White wire is okay, replace CCM.
NOTE:
Ensure parking lights and taillights are operational before performing DIGITAL DISPLAY (LCD) BACKLIGHTS INOPERATIVE test below. Display will not light up if ambient lighting is set too dark and parking lights are off or inoperative.
