Oil Pressure Gauge Appears Inaccurate
- Check oil level. Check oil pressure using mechanical gauge before proceeding. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Disconnect oil pressure sensor connector.
- Using Signal Generator/Instrument Panel Tester (J-33431-B), connect Red clip lead to Tan wire of oil pressure sensor connector. Oil pressure gauge should indicate correct pressure for specified resistance setting on tester. Set resistance dials on tester to zero ohms, 40 ohms and 100 ohms. Oil pressure gauge should indicate low pressure, approximately 30 psi, then high pressure.
- If readings are as specified, replace oil pressure sensor. If pressure readings are not as specified, check for poor or corroded connections in Tan wire between instrument cluster and oil pressure sensor. If Tan wire is okay, replace instrument cluster.
