Digital Display (LCD) Backlights Inoperative

  1. If parking lights and taillights do not operate, see PARKING LIGHTS & TAILLIGHTS DO NOT TURN ON under LIGHTING  . If display does not light up, shine bright light at ambient light sensor opening on Driver Information Center (DIC). If display still does not light, perform AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR CHECK under LIGHTING.
  2. With ignition off, remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Connect test light between Orange wire of instrument cluster connector and ground. If test light does not light, check for open or short to ground in Orange wire between LCD fuse and instrument cluster. Also check for open LCD fuse. Repair as necessary.
  3. If test light comes on, disconnect Central Control Module (CCM) Gray connector. Connect jumper wire between Gray/White wire of CCM Gray connector and ground. If display backlights come on, replace CCM. If display backlights do not light, check for open in Gray/White wire between CCM and instrument cluster or for faulty backlight bulbs. If Gray/White wire and bulbs are okay, replace instrument cluster.
