Code 54 (Fuel Enable Data Stream (FEDS) Fuel Enable Fuel Enable Failure)
- If fault occurs while engine is running, FEDS will keep Electronic Control Module (ECM) fuel enabled, preventing a no-start condition upon next start attempt. SYSTEM and SYS indicators will flash, indicating Central Control Module (CCM) and security problems. If fault occurs while engine is not running, FEDS will not enable fuel. ECM Code 41 will also be set if Code 54 is set.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator comes on and ECM Code 51 is set, go to CODE 51 (PASS-KEY(R) DETECTION - INVALID KEY DETECTION). If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator does not light, refer to DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUIT CHECK in the BASIC TESTING article in this section.
- If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator comes on and ECM Code 51 is not set, check if Codes 51, 52, or 53 are also set. If these codes are set, refer to appropriate testing. If these codes are not set, clear any codes present, turn ignition off, then on.
- If Code 54 resets, replace CCM. If Code 54 does not reset, wiggle wiring and connections to locate intermittent faults. When repairs are completed, clear codes and verify operation.
