Instrument Panel - Electronic: Description

Instrument cluster is controlled by an electronic microprocessor unit called the Central Control Module (CCM). CCM self-diagnostic capabilities are referenced often in trouble code charts for quick and accurate diagnosis of non-code setting problems.

Instrument cluster uses a monitor system containing digital LCD displays, analog type gauges and telltale warning lights. A Red CHECK GAUGES warning light glows when any gauges operate within the gauge's Red warning band.

A Driver Information Center (DIC), switch pad and trip monitor are located on right side of instrument cluster. DIC is used to send instructions to CCM. DIC allows specific data to be selected and displayed for CCM diagnostic modes.

Central Control Module (CCM) uses speedometer, odometer and trip monitor to display codes. In diagnostic mode, speedometer displays malfunction codes, odometer displays data and trip monitor indicates system being tested and individual test number. Problems in the CCM-monitored systems (except PASS-Key(R) faults) are indicated by SYS flashing in the trip monitor display. PASS-Key(R) (Personalized Automotive Security System) faults are indicated by SECURITY light.

Accessory plug provides hot leads and a ground for electrical products, such as cellular phones. This 3-pin connector is located in center console under coin holder. Orange wire is for constant battery voltage, Pink/Black wire is for battery voltage when ignition is in RUN position and Black wire is for ground.
