SIR System

SIR wiring harness has Yellow covering for easy identification. Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module (DERM) can maintain sufficient voltage (36-volt loop reserve) to cause deployment of air bag for 10 minutes after ignition is turned off and/or battery is disconnected. Wait at least 10 minutes before servicing vehicle. With SIR system disabled and ignition on, INFL REST light will glow; this is normal and does not indicate an SIR malfunction. Many repair procedures require removal of AIR BAG (SIR) fuse and disconnection of SIR 2-pin connector near base of steering column.
