Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install the transmission to the engine assembly. Transmission Replacement (RWD)
  2. Place the powertrain and drivetrain and front suspension cradle assembly on the GE-52200  Propulsion System Lift Table or a suitable support table.
  3. Secure the powertrain to the table using straps and binders or chains.
  4. Ensure when raising the engine, transmission and front suspension cradle assembly, the following are clear from the drivetrain and front suspension cradle:
    • Vacuum lines
    • Steering knuckles
    • Electrical wiring harnesses
    • Oil cooler lines
  5. With the aid of an assistant, carefully raise the engine, transmission and front suspension cradle assembly.

    CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution

    Install the NEW drivetrain and front suspension cradle front bolts (2). Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (RWD)

  7. Install the drivetrain and front suspension cradle rear bolts (1). Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (RWD)
  8. Transmission Mount Bracket - Install - Transmission Mount Replacement (RWD)
  9. Connect the electrical connectors and wiring harness retainers. Transmission Replacement (RWD)
  10. Remove the GE-52200  Propulsion System Lift Table or suitable lift table from under the vehicle.

    Install the left side engine mount nut (1). Engine Mount Replacement - Left Side

    Install the right side engine mount nut (1). Engine Mount Replacement - Right Side

    Intermediate Steering Shaft (1) @ Steering Gear - Install - Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (RWD)

    Install the wiring harness retainers to the frame. (1)

    Connect the steering gear electrical connectors. (1)

    Front Lower Control Rear Link- Left Side and Right Side (1) @ Steering Knuckle - Install - Front Lower Control Rear Link Replacement (RWD)

    Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Nut (3) @ Transmission Fluid Cooler - Install - Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Replacement (LSY, RWD, with V03) , or Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Replacement (LGY, AWD, RWD)

  23. Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Clip (1) @ Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose - Connect
  24. Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Bracket Bolt (2) @ Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Hose - Install

  30. Lower the vehicle.

  44. Radiator Inlet Hose (2) @ Water Outlet - Install

    Intake Manifold Cover - Install - Intake Manifold Cover Replacement 

  55. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  56. Fill the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LGY Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LGY GE 47716)
  57. Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement 
    58. NOTE:

    Prelube is necessary if the engine is replaced or overhauled.

  58. If the engine is replaced with a new engine or has been overhauled, perform the Engine Prelubing procedure. Engine Prelubing 
  59. Charge the A/C system. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
  60. Perform the crankshaft position variation learn procedure. Crankshaft Position Variation Learn
  61. Perform the throttle body idle air flow compensation reset procedure. Throttle Body Idle Air Flow Compensation Reset
