Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    Apply the appropriate RTV sealant bead (2, 3) to the areas on the engine front cover (1) as shown in the illustration. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 

    1. Apply a 3 mm (0.118 in) bead (2) of RTV sealant to the engine front cover (1).
    2. Apply a 5 mm (0.197 in) bead (3) of RTV sealant to the engine front cover (1).
      3. NOTE:

      No RTV sealant should be visible in the M12 bolt holes upon final assembly of front cover to engine.

    3. Apply a bead of RTV sealant around the M12 Bolt Holes (4).
    4. Apply a 3 mm (0.118 in) bead of RTV sealant to the oil pan-to-front cover sealing surface.

    Engine Front Cover Locating Pin (1) - Install [ 2x ]

  3. Engine Front Cover (2) - Install - using the EN-46109  Guide Pins
  4. Oil Pump Flow Control Solenoid Valve Electrical Connector (3) - Install

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Engine Front Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten in sequence [ 2x ] 15 N.m (11 lb-ft)

  6. Engine Front Cover Bolt (2) - Install and tighten in sequence [ 16x ] 10 N.m (89 lb/in)
  7. Engine Front Cover Bolt (3) - Install and tighten in sequence 60 N.m (44 lb-ft
  8. Engine Front Cover Bolt (4) - Install and tighten in sequence 60 N.m (44 lb-ft
  9. Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve-Bank 2 - Install - Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Replacement - Bank 2
  10. Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve-Bank 1 - Install - Camshaft Position Actuator Locating Pin Control Valve Replacement - Bank 1
  11. Install the oil pan to engine front cover bolts. Upper Oil Pan Replacement (AWD) , or Upper Oil Pan Replacement (RWD) 
  12. Oil Pump Flow Control Solenoid Valve Harness - Install - Oil Pump Flow Control Solenoid Valve Harness Replacement 
  13. Crankshaft Balancer - Install - Crankshaft Balancer Replacement 
  14. Install the water outlet with radiator hose. Water Outlet Replacement
  15. Camshaft Cover - Right Side - Install - Camshaft Cover Replacement - Right Side 
  16. Camshaft Cover - Left Side - Install - Camshaft Cover Replacement - Left Side

    Attach the retainers (1, 2) to the radiator inlet hose bracket.

    Water Pump Pulley (2) - Install - Water Pump Pulley Replacement

    Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe (2) - Install - Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement (LGY) , or Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement (LSY Auxiliary Water Pump Inlet Pipe to Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose) , or Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement (LSY Engine Block to Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve)

    Water Pump Inlet Pipe (3) - Install - Water Pump Inlet Pipe Replacement

    Air Cleaner Assembly (1) - Install - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement

  22. Fill the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LGY Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LGY GE 47716)
