    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

Using the DT-45012  Holding Fixture and breaker bar with the proper size socket, tighten the NEW rear wheel drive shaft flange nut until the pinion end play is just taken up.

  8. Frequently rotate the pinion while tightening the nut to seat the bearings.
  9. NOTE:

Compare this measurement with the rotating torque recorded during removal.

  10. Using and inch-pound torque wrench and tightening in small increments, measure the rotating torque of the pinion until the reading is +/ - 0.1 N.m (8.8 lb in) from the rotational torque measured prior to disassembly.
  11. NOTE:

Recheck the rotating torque and adjust if necessary.

  12. Once the specified torque is obtained, rotate the pinion several times to seat the bearings.
  13. Check the fluid level of the rear drive axle. Rear Axle Lubricant Level Inspection
  14. Propeller Shaft - Install - Propeller Shaft Replacement (without LT4) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (with LT4, MJK) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (with LT4, MHX) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (AWD)
  15. Lower the vehicle.
