Removal Procedure

- Raise the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Drain the rear differential carrier assembly. Rear Axle Lubricant Replacement
- Propeller Shaft - Remove - Propeller Shaft Replacement (without LT4) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (with LT4, MJK) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (with LT4, MHX) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (AWD)
- Separate the rear wheel drive shafts from the differential carrier assembly. Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side (without LT4) , or Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side (with LT4) , Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (without LT4) , or Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (with LT4)
- Support the differential carrier assembly with a suitable hydraulic jack stand.
Remove the differential carrier rear bolt and washer (1) and DISCARD.
Remove the two differential carrier rear bolts (1) and nuts (2).
Remove the differential carrier assembly (1).
NOTE:
It is not necessary to completely remove the wheel drive axles from the vehicle. Only separate the rear wheel drive shafts from the differential carrier assembly and not from the wheel bearing and hub assembly.
