Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the manual transmission from the vehicle. Manual Transmission Removal and Installation
  2. GM71490
    NOTE:
    • If reusing the pressure plate assembly, place an alignment mark on the pressure plate and flywheel for proper alignment during installation.
    • DO NOT use air tools to remove the clutch pressure plate bolts

    Loosen the clutch pressure plate bolts using the following sequence:

    1. Loosen bolts 1 and 2 one full turn, then stop.
    2. Loosen bolts 3 and 4 one full turn, then stop.
    3. Loosen bolts 5 and 6 one full turn, then stop.
    4. Repeat Steps 4.1 through 4.3 until all bolts are loose.

    Clutch Pressure Plate Bolt (1) - Remove and DISCARD [6x]

  4. Remove the clutch pressure plate (2) from the dowel pins on the flywheel.
  5. Remove the driven disc (3).

    Oil Pan Bolt (3) - Remove [2x]

  7. Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing Bolt (1) - Remove [5x]
  8. Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing (2) - Remove and DISCARD
